In the 1970s.Canterburyfaced a unique predicament as their factories were overwhelmed with an abundance of leftover fabric due to their extensive supply of kits to numerous teams. Determined to find a solution. they devised a clever idea: stitching these fabric remnants together and presenting them as ‘practice jerseys’. These shirts. known as Uglies. gained widespread popularity as they offered a distinct appeal – no two jerseys were alike.
